The New Yorker profile on Samuel Delany taught me more than I’ve ever known about the writer. I’ve never read a thing he’s wrote, perhaps because I’ve never had a proper sci-fi phase wherein I dug deep and found the scions that don’t make the headlines (Ursula Le Guin leads this pack in my mind, though I’ve now read two of hers). I suppose what is notable about Delaney from the profile is that he is a writer who is also an extrovert.
Julian Lucas does a great job on this profile. I’ll be watching for his byline going forward.
